Turning a Conversation Into a Referral — A Seeker’s Guide

Not every coffee chat leads to a referral.
But the right one just might.
At Cofferral, we make it possible for Seekers not only to gain career insight — but also to access real referral opportunities. Here's how to request one, the right way.
What a Referral Really Means on Cofferral
A referral on Cofferral is never guaranteed. That’s by design.
Sharers are not recruiters or paid referrers — they’re professionals willing to share their journey, offer perspective, and, when the fit is right, support candidates they genuinely believe in.

That’s why referrals on Cofferral are invitation-based and follow a structured process — built on trust, not pressure.
Step-by-Step: How to Ask for a Referral
Only Seekers can initiate referral requests — and each request requires a fresh CV upload. Sharers receive a view-only preview of your CV, which is revoked if the request is declined, expired, or canceled.
Tip: Sharers who offer referral opportunities will have a referral icon displayed on their profile. You can use this to filter or prioritize whom you connect with.
Step 1: Complete a Coffee Chat with a Sharer
You must first complete at least one Coffee Chat with a Sharer who has enabled referrals in their profile. Once the chat is complete, you’ll see a button labeled:
[Explore Referral] in your Follow-ups tab.
Step 2: Upload Your CV and Submit Request
Clicking [Explore Referral] opens a short form:
